When a board is exposed to liquid, the immediate symptoms are not always the full extent of the damage. Residue left behind can continue corroding traces, pads, and components for weeks or months after the initial exposure, producing intermittent or worsening symptoms over time.

This is why liquid-damaged boards are evaluated under magnification for corrosion, not just tested electrically. A board that "mostly works" today can develop new symptoms later if corrosion is not addressed.
